Dexter Curry was called home on December 22, 2020. He was born on January 23, 1969 in Ozark, Al to the late Myrtis Johnson Anderson and Berry Curry Sr. Dexter was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Entrepreneur. He is proceeded in death by his Guardian Mozell Clark, Grandmother Rena Curry and brother Roy Anderson Jr.
Dexter was a graduate of the class of 1988 at Carroll High School. He enjoyed music and dancing. Additionally, he was a part of the dance group New Breed and FBIO (Finest Boys in Ozark) where he was known as Prince Charming D.C. Upon graduation he attended Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA.
At an early age he confessed Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was faithful to and an active member of Greater Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board and Board of Trustees.
He was united in marriage to Tenesha Shae Curry and through this union were three children: Tanisha Jenkins (Dorcia Kilow), Marquis Curry, and Jamecia Curry (Travis Kenon). Dexter had two grandchildren, to whom he was known as Grand “D” Jazelle Curry & Teguen Kilow. In addition to his children and grandchildren he had a special sister Sakinah Williams (Lionel) as well as survived by nine siblings: Larry Clark (Jewnita), Sakinah (Lionel), Hatti Bailey (Robert), Rickey Anderson (Angelar), Alexander Anderson (Donna), Beverly Gissendanner, Berry Curry Jr. (Mary), Amy Bryant, Angelina Curry, and Osborn Curry (Norrasha). In addition, he leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, a special nephew Marcus Williams (Shaddai) and Montrice Woodie (Troy), as well as several nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Dexter frequently contributed his time and resources to inspire and motivate all those who he came in contact with.
