Ms. Brenda Ramona Neal, owner and operator of Unity Funeral Home, departed this life Thursday November 29, 2012. She was 60. Funeral service will be Saturday December 8, 2012 at Cherry Street AME Church at 11:00 A.M. where Rev. James Winfrey is pastor and Rev.Ulysses Kincey officiating. Interment will follow in Gates of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation/Wake will be Friday December 7, 2012 from 5-7 P.M. at Unity Funeral Home      Ms. Brenda Ramona Neal was born August 14, 1952 to Mr. and Mrs. Leon and Carrie Neal. Brenda was a member of Cherry Street AME Church. She accepted Christ at an early age. She remained a faithful member until her passing, She attended Montana Street Elementary School, Lake Street Middle School, Carver High School from 9th -11th grade and was a member of the first integrated graduating class of Dothan High School in 1970. After graduating she attended George C. Wallace College where she earned her accounting degree. She then went to Jefferson State College and earned her degree in Mortuary Science. She and her father started Unity Funeral Home, where she remained owner and operator until her passing. She was very dedicated to Unity and it was her life's passion to lovingly care for people during their time of bereavement. In the interim, she was also employed at Gates Power Drive for 19 years until the company moved overseas. Brenda was a loving and devoted foster parent.      She leaves to cherish her memories three faithful sons: Demetrous Neal, Lashawn Neal, and Javon Neal; two sisters: Leona (Walter) Harris of Sponaway, WA and Cheryl Britt of Dothan, AL,; one foster sister Vanessa Turner of Dothan, AL,;one brother Charles Phillips (Ruth) Lewis of Washington, DC, and a foster brother Joe McBride,; three aunts: Rosie Williams of Detroit MI, Odell Tyson of San Antonio, TX,; and Ethel Warren of Saginaw, MI,; two uncles: Bobby Spann of Detroit, MI, and James McClendon of Detroit, MI,; a special faithful and devoted niece LaTisha (Charles) Freeman, a special devoted and dedicated great nephew Jatavious Neal, a special God great niece Yalizah Wilson,; three nieces Faith Lewis and Rachel-Anna Lewis both of Washington DC, Courtney McBride of Dothan, AL, five nephews: Glen Neal of Washington, DC, Al Ward of Dothan, AL, Walter Harris of Washington, DC, Raltmon McBride of Virginia and a special God nephew Louis Davis; a special friend and cousin Mildred Beatrice Hogan; two special friends: Nita Easley and Cynthia Davis and a host of relatives, foster sisters and brothers, and friends.
