Doris Jones Gadegbeku

Doris (Pie) Jones Gadegbeku, a twin born to the late Mr, Jimmie Lee Jones and Mrs. Rosetta Perry Jones, was born in Dothan, Alabama, and departed this life surrounded by love and cherished memories. She was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, known for her warmth, infectious laughter, and vibrant spirit.

Doris, along with her twin sister Dorothy Jones, migrated to Newark, New Jersey, where they joined their siblings Lena Jackson, Barbara Benjamin, and Foyette Jones. In Newark, Doris built a life filled with love and community, eventually marrying Henri Gadegbeku. She dedicated many years to her career at QEI in Springfield, New Jersey, where she retired after a fulfilling tenure. A lover of music, Doris enjoyed dancing and showing off her moves, bringing joy to family gatherings and celebrations. She was also known for her classy looks, always stepping out the door with her face beautifully made up and her hair styled just right.

Doris had a special connection to her roots in Dothan, often returning home to spend joyful moments with family and friends, dancing and reminiscing about the good old days. Her spirit was a beacon of light, bringing joy to all who knew her.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Henri, and her siblings: Lena Mae Jackson, Barbara Benjamin, Foyette Jones, Lamar Jones, Betty Davis, Charles Jones, and Johnny Jones. Doris leaves behind her twin sister Dorothy Jones, along with Sisters Linda Jones, Ruthie Smith, and her stepdaughter Henriette Morris. She is also survived by a host of nephews and nieces, whom she cherished as her own children.

Doris (Pie) Jones will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her love, laughter, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of her family and friends.
