Deacon Eddie J. McDaniel
The Lord is My Shepherds ; I shall Not want … Psalm 23
The Lord was Eddie’s Shepherd, His friend and even His coach in life. For the plays and directions were given to the proud parents Eddie J and Jewel McDaniel on March 08, 1959 in Dothan, Ala., where he grew up and was faithful to his fellowmen and family. Eddie quickly learned the golden rule to love God and to love your neighbors as thyself. There were no doubt in no one minds about Eddie McDaniel how he felt about you ; he would show it on a daily basic by saying, “I Love You” , “God Bless,” or sometimes he would say “Man, that’s no way to treat nobody”.
Growing up in a large household of seven other siblings , his parents taught him the practice of sharing and giving to others. He continued that practice at Adam Street Baptist Church as a young boy, under leadership of the late Rev. E.D. Jones now later renamed Greater Beulah Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities as a team player such as : Trustee, Deacon, Bus Ministry, Male Chorus, Men’s Sunday School Class, Outreach Ministry.
Eddie was a true start player in everything he put his hands to and was a competitor to his heart. he was a start player while attending Dothan City Schools ,where he played on the basketball team and a proud graduated of Dothan High School Class of 1977. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in United States Army where he served two years., and later transferred over to Reserve duty. During his services, he was deployed to Saudi Arabia for war duty. After completing his war duty , he remained in the Reserve for ten years. His charms and dap daddy swag won the heart and love for his beautiful Queen Jacqueline Burnette on May 04, 1984. To this union came the cheerleaders and motivator for their father , April Nicole, Courtney Elaine, and Eddie Antonio McDaniel.
Eddie loved his family and was a good father to his children. He was a father figure to his nieces, nephews, and a baseball coach for kids in the community. Eddie demonstrated excellent work ethic by working at Dubarton and Dothan City School for number of years., but because of health problems. he began committing his time to serving others in the community. The Lord sent the last play to Eddie on the eve of December 31, 2018 ,where he later made the touchdown on January 04, 2019, at Southeast Health Hospital, where his brother late Larry J. McDaniel aka (Crow), and father late Eddie B. McDaniel made the touchdown some years ago.
Eddie left an impressions on his family and friends by leaving his zealous spirit on the heart and minds of his loving and devoted wife, Jacqueline B. McDaniel of Dothan, AL; three children: April McDaniel of Atlanta, GA, Courtney McDaniel of Hoover, AL and Eddie McDaniel of Atlanta, GA; his mother, Jewel McDaniel of Dothan, AL; four sisters: Helen S.
