James Life Story
On Wednesday, April 14, 1937, an angelic bouncy baby was born to Clem and Flossie Cooper Taylor. They named this adorable baby James Edward. On January 22, 2021, God saw fit to call James to his Heavenly home. James was baptized at an early age at New Bethel Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until his health failed. He also served as a Trustee at New Bethel and was also the custodian for many years.
James attended Dothan City Schools and after high school James started working at City Drug Store where he remained a faithful employee for forty (40) years. James soon met the love of his life, Rose Mary McKinzie and on May 25, 1957 James and Rose were united in holy matrimony. To this union three beautiful children were born, Charles, Debra, and Zachary.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Deacon Clem and Deaconess Flossie C. Taylor; two brothers: William Taylor and Charles Taylor; two sisters: Susie Taylor Snell and Celessie Taylor Porter; one grandchild, Rose’ Glenn; mother and father-in-law, Ular and Charlie McKinzie Sr.; four brothers-in-law: Charlie McKinzie Jr. J.C. Carroll, Rafeeq Muhammad and Billy Ray McKinzie; two sisters-in-law: Essie Mae Copeland and Inester Smith of Dothan, AL.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife of 63 years Rose Mary McKinzie Taylor; one daughter, Debra Taylor ( who also helped served as his caregiver); two sons: Charles (Cynthia) and Zachary (Lisa) all of Dothan, AL; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three sisters: Vesta Taylor, Roosevelt, NY, and Dorothy Taylor Muhammad of Dothan, AL, and Mattie (Gerald) Whittaker of Hamden, CT; eight sisters-in-law: Carrie Bell Styers of Pompano Beach, FL, Annie Ruth Carroll, Murlene (Joe) Miles, Johnnie Mae Phillips, Addie McKinzie, Maude (George) Jones, Geraldine Lewis and Willie Dell Taylor all of Dothan, AL; one goddaughter, Anna Corinthian Bowers of Tuscalossa, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
