On April 22, 2023, Mr. Joseph Mills Jr. went home with the Angels.
Joseph Mills Jr. was born on May 2, 1941, in Queen New York, to his parents the late Virginia Robinson and Joseph Mills Sr. There were five children in all. Three of Joseph’s siblings proceeded him in death.; one brother Raymond Mills, and two sisters; Carrie Bell Mills, and Passie (Henry) Owens.
Joseph Mills jr. married Betty Mills in New York, then moved to Richmond, VA, Joseph Mills was also raised by his loving late aunt and favorite uncle Lawrence and Caroline.
Joe as he was affectionately called was a good husband, wonderful father, and a good friend. He believed in helping his children, grandchildren and family members out any way he could. If Joe had it, he would give it to you. All you had to do is just ask him. He had a great sense of humor, was very comical, and would say the funniest of things. Everyone fell in love with Joe, no matter where he was or went. When admitted in the hospital, the nurses called him there “Big Teddy Bear.” His dialysis nurses loved him, and so did all of his roommates.
Some people always said he had features of the late great Cassius Clay AKA Heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali. Joe was a boxer during his early teens to young adult days.
Joe hobbies included playing the lotto and cards with his buddies in the country and watching wrestling. He loved dogs and max was his favorite. Max was his bodyguard.
Joe always said he had 9 lives and he defeated them all because he was a blessed, strong man to survive them all. He will truly be missed by his children, family, and friends.
Joseph leaves to cherish his loving memories his three beautiful, loving, and caring children; Two daughters Lorie (Willie) Arnett , and Yalonda (Gregory) Reynolds; One son Gregory Mills; One sister-in-law Barbra Mills; Eighteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends, and good ole buddies.
