Mamie Ruth Myhand Swain was born June 7, 1946, in Pike County, AL to two loving parents, the late Julius and Lessie Myhand as one of six children.
She attended Pike County School System until the family relocated to Dothan, AL. There she met, fell in love, and married the love of her life, Jessie Thomas Swain, on March 14, 1970. Together they raised eight children. After 39 years of love, marriage, and family, they are reunited together in Heaven.
She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and remained in the church throughout her life. Mamie loved music and praising the Lord. She was an active member of the Eveready Gospel Singers for 39 years traveling the Southeast to sing God’s gospel.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Mamie was preceded in death by her brothers, L.C. Myhand, Thomas Myhand, and Charles Myhand; her sister, Annie L. Myhand-Johnson; and son, Clint Myhand.
She leaves to cherish her memories, four daughters Sharon (Michael) Shackleford, Karen (Craig) Dent, Wanda Swain (Marvin), and Amy Swain (Tyrone); three sons, Eric Myhand, Jessie Swain, Thomas Swain; her sister and caregiver, Jean Myhand-Price; a special niece, Cynthia Ann Myhand; a daughter-in-law Dyan January; three uncles, Willie Joe Myhand, Howard Myhand and Carroy (Carrie) Myhand; three sisters-in-law, Christine Myhand, Magdalene Myhand and Carrie Swain; one brother-in-law, Johnny Dale (Faye) Swain; a special great grandson, Bryson Swain; The Dunlap Family, her extended family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
