10:50 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2019, Sister Marie Tiller, was called home to be with the Lord.

Sister Tiller was born in Barber County on September 11, 1927.  She was the 2nd child to the late Walter and Mary Thomas. She attended school in Headland, Alabama.  She was united in Holy Matrimony to Johnny James Tiller on October 14, 1945. The two enjoyed seventy years of marriage until James passing in December, 2015. To that union seven children were born.  She joined Rocky Mount Freewill Baptist Church to be with her husband and she was a faithful member until her short illness.

Marie was employed with Ansell Incorporation for fifteen years where she retired from in 1992. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 625. Marie enjoyed spending time with her friends, traveling, family and visiting her children. She gave her best in every imaginable way to her family, friends, church, community and job.  She was funny, kind, gentle with a warm spirit. She loved her church family and was a faithful member.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; James Tiller; her daughter, Jannie Mae Keeling; her son, Edward Earl Tiller; sisters: Caterline Marsh, Montest Underwood and Annie T. Moye; brothers: James Walter, Lloyd Thomas and John D. Thomas.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters: Annie Ree T. Reynolds, Dothan, Juanita T. Berry (Michael) of Killeen, TX and Annie Rose T. Knight (Gary) of Huntsville, AL; sons Johnny James “Jimmy” Jr., of Bainbridge, GA and Jerome (Pam) of Dothan, AL; a daughter-in-law; Evelyn Tiller of Montgomery, AL; twenty one; grandchildren; forty-four; great grandchildren; brothers:  Levi (Lou Jean) Thomas of Headland, Billy (Thelma) Thomas of Dothan, and Matthew Thomas of Dothan; sisters: Lizzie Wright of Dothan, Carrie Christmas of Dothan, Gloria Stalling of Pinkard, AL, Mary Thompson of Napier Fields, AL, Brenda Singletary of Dothan; one sister-in-law Marie Thomas of Midland City, AL; two brothers-in-law Jessie Lee (Lisa) and Willie (Peggy) of Jacksonville, FL; six sisters-in-law Daisy Tiller of Dothan AL,  Bertha Gasden of Deerfield, FL, Eva Lee Thompson, Minnie Tiller “Pee Wee” Daytona Beach, FL and the late Robbie Cooper of Daytona Beach FL; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Special friends: Cleve Iverson, Jessie and Mae McDonald, Cleveland and Rose Crews, Rocky Mount Freewill Baptist Church Family; special neighbors James, Thelma, and Davida Turner; Larry and Ann Whitehurst.
