Marion Dover

Marion Cleophus Dover was born February 12, 1930 in Fayette, Alabama to the late Easby Edward Wilson and Odie Wright Dover. He transitioned from his life 17 December 2019.

Cleophus confessed Christ at an early age and began serving the Lord at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Newtonville, Alabama where he served as a Deacon. Upon moving to Dothan, he became a member of the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

He was united in marriage to the late Sarah Nell Branyon Dover, 15 November 1952.

As a loving husband and devoted father, Cleophus was complimented by his virtues of patience and always showed love and concern for his family and friends. He led his family through difficult times, trying situations, and pleasurable triumphs with pride, prudence, and that noticeable laugh while encouraging those around to always do what’s right.

Cleophus was preceded in death by his wife; Sarah Nell Branyon Dover, parents; Easby Wilson and Odie Dover, brothers; Richard G. Dover, Billy M. Dover, Willie Ed Dover, and Ray B. Dover.

He is survived by his children: Anita Joyce Foster (Arthur) of Dothan, Alabama, Michael Royce Dover of Dothan Alabama, Merita Saunders of Dothan Alabama, Barbara Denouva LaVar, (Thomas “Lennie” whom he considered his second son) of Ozark, Alabama, Cleopatra Dover-Stanonik (Peter) of Killeen, Texas; siblings: John Dover, Tuscoloosa, Alabama, and Ronald Wilson of Detroit Michigan; Aunt, Uncle, 25 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
