Mrs. Barbara Curtis Fedrick was born on July 15, 1938 to late Jimmy Curtis( Bilal Hammood) and Dorothy Mae Curtis in Detroit, Michigan. Early in her life, she moved to Alabama where she attended Carver High School of Dothan, Alabama.
During her early life, she joined Cherry Street A.M.E Church. In April 1963, she was united in marriage to the Willie Henry Fedrick. God blessed this union with five children. Along with her husband, she became a member of Adam Street Baptist Church (later named Greater Beulah Missionary Baptist Church). She was a devoted member until her health declined..
Barbara was a loving, caring, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. With her “Sweet Spirit” (as she was often known by family and friends), the legacy she leaves for us to emulate is a quiet, Christian spirit, intertwined with peace, love, and togetherness.
On Monday, August 22, 2022 –9:05p.m., God quietly summoned her to eternal life where joy, happiness and peace will forever be with her. She was blessed to be in the presence of her children and grandchildren during her final moments of life.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Willie Henry Fedrick Sr., and daughter Dorinda Fedrick Stevenson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: two daughters, Doretha (Bob) James, Dothan, Alabama, Madalyn (Michael) Williams, Docena, Alabama, two sons: Kenwin Fedrick and Willie H. Fedrick, Jr. Dothan, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Kenton (Pearlean) James, Tallahassee, Florida, Mark (Erin) Stevenson, Jasmine Fedrick, Angel Williams, Birmingham, Alabama; Chris Williams Airman First Class, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Vicki Lamar, Tampa, Florida, DeArrius Cook, Kaleb Fedrick ,and Willie Jerome Fedrick (Lil Wil), Dothan, Alabama; one niece, Lisa Powell, four nephews; Timothy (Letrice) Whaley, Dothan, Alabama, Stanley Harrison, Newark, New Jersey, Ronnie (Cathy) Whaley, Hinesville, Georgia, and Oree (Gwen) Fedrick, Savannah Georgia, twelve great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
