Jacob "Jake" Turnipseed Sr. was born August 8, 1947, to the late Willie Turnipseed and Eloise Jones in Wewahitchka, FL. and later moved to Dothan as a young child. Jake was a graduate of Carver High School class of 1965. He was a successful entrepreneur, as he owned Turnipseed House Movers for over 30 years and faithfully served the needs of the community. Jake later started driving buses for the city of Dothan until her retired to take care of his wife. He was a faithful member of Stringer Street AME Church for many years.
Jake was preceded in death by his wife for over 50 years, Goergia Turnipseed. He was also preceded in death by mother-in-law Carrie Grayson, brothers Mark Hill and Gregory Williams, sister in laws Lueretha Salahuddin and Laurie Henry.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his sons, Stacy (Tonya) Turnipseed, Derrick Turnipseed, and Jason Ogburn, 13 grandchildren, his siblings Bernice Turnipseed, Veronica (Roy) Carter, Connie Williams, Marcus Williams, Sonja (Bernado) Ellis, Jeanette Baldwin, sister-in-law Carrie Bell, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
