Donnie Mae Gosha Powell was born on July 13, 1925 in Gordon, AL to the late John Lewis Gosha Sr. and Hettie Carthon Gosha.
She was joined in holy matrimony to John Thomas Powell Sr.
She was the second of seven children. She was raised in Gordon, AL and accepted Christ at an early age. Donnie later moved to Miami, FL and returned to Dothan and made that her home. She was truly blessed and a blessing during her 95 years on this side of Glory. She had a genuine love for people. We all knew her by
Momma, Grandma, Madea, Sister, Aunt Sister, Cuttn Donnie or Cuttn Lil Donnie. She loved the outdoors which included her flowers and vegetables. Her passion was fighting and had memories with a lot of us on the fish banks. If you ever got to sit and eat with her you’d think her food was touched by the angels and many can acknowledge that she seasoned and served with love. Her wisdom surpassed many and to be able to sit with her was a treat. If there were any questions about the family history, she was the one to tell you.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John Sr., and Hettie Gosha; her husband, John Powell Sr.; one daughter, Rosetta Collins; five siblings: John (Bob) Gosha Jr., Horace Gosha Sr., Lucius Gosha Sr., David Gosha Sr., and Roy Gosha.
