Rutha Mae Smith was born on January 4,1950, to the late Sam and Lizzie Crawford. She grew up in Ashford, Al and was a 1968 graduate of Essie R. Grimsley Colored High School.As a young adult, Rutha was a member of the Voices of Faith Choir. She was employed as a telephone operator with the General Telephone Company, where she later retired. Rutha accepted Christ at an early age, and in 1982, she joined 7th United Holiness Church. She served as an active member working with the youth department and later served on he usher board. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Lizzie Crawford; sisters Carrie Grayson and Lula Crawford; brother, Cecil Crawford. Rutha leaves to cherish her memeory three children, Angela Smith, Kyndra "Tanyell" Smith, and Eddie "Jamar" Smith three grandchildren, Kendrick Moorison, Zarrick Smith, and Kayla Morrison; sisters Elvira Harris, Virginia Williams; Retha Kennedy, Peggie Donald, and Emma Collins; and a host of loving nephews, nieces, and cousins and friends
