Mrs. Willie Ruth Griggs

Mrs. Willie Ruth (Gordon) Griggs was born on 23 November 1930 to the late Henry Lee Gordon and Lena Mae (Williams) Gordon. She was born Iron City Georgia, Seminole County. On June 8th, 1946 she met and married Bobby Lee Griggs Sr. At the time of this union She was 16 years of age and Bobby was 21 years of age.

At the age of 18, she was informed by a local doctor that she would never have any children. Boy…was he ever wrong. Mrs. Griggs accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Mount Zion Baptist Church (Dothan, Alabama) and faithfully served on the  on the usher and Eastern Star Boards for 25 years. After moving to Dothan, Alabama she joined and attended Allen Temple Church Of God and Christ (Dothan, Alabama) for 12 years. She moved her membership to Most Holy Church (Dothan, Alabama) and served as a devoted member until our Lord and Savior called her home. She was also blessed as an honorary member of BibleWay Church (Dothan, Alabama).

Mrs. Griggs leaves behind a testament of love to cherish her memory a loving family: Daughters: Ms. Bettie (Griggs) Hopkins (Richmond, VA), Ms. Jerry (Griggs) Ewing (Albany, GA.), Ms. Eva Griggs (GA.), Sons:  Mr. Robert (Janice) Griggs (Cleburne, TX), Mr. Charles Griggs (Dothan, AL.), Mr. Walter (Wilma) Griggs (Dothan, AL.) and Mr. Eddie Griggs (Dothan, AL) a very special daughter-in-law Mrs. Sandra W. Griggs (Dothan, AL.). To family and friends, Mrs. Griggs served in many roles (prayer warrior, counselor, friend) and was known by many names (Ruth, Mrs. Griggs, Mama Griggs, Granny, Gran Gran ,mother, shortie, Auntie). Mrs. Griggs leaves behind 17 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren, a host of Nieces, and Nephews. Special friends; Mrs. Linda Harvey, and Mrs. Mary Reynolds.

Mrs. Griggs leaves behind her brothers: Mr. Max Gordon (Vinnie Pearl) Dothan, Alabama, Mr. Jerry (Nancy) Reed, Dothan, Alabama. Sisters Mrs. Doris (Richard) Baskerville, Dothan, Alabama, and Mrs. Jean Olasande, Saint Paul, MN. Adopted son, Mr. Carson (Panama) Morris and adopted daughters: Mrs. Betty (Reese) Morris, Ms. Ernestine (Tina) Kirkland and Ms. Amanda Perkins.

Mrs. Griggs was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Henry (Lena) Gordon, husband, Bobby Lee Griggs Sr., Children: Daughters,  Mary A. Griggs, Mrs. Dorothy M. (Griggs) Miles, and Mrs. Barbara (Griggs) Hopkins. Sons; Mr. Willie James Griggs, and Mr. Bobby Lee Griggs Jr.
