Shirley France McCree

Shirley’s life journey began on May 27, 1940, to the late Martin Lee & Fannie Lou Helms.

Shirley was brought up in Midland City, and obtained her education in the Dale County School System.
Shirley accepted Jesus Christ at an early age as her Lord and Savior and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Midland City, Alabama. She later joined First True Outreach Ministries, Dothan, Alabama where she was a faithful member for many years. Later in life she joined Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Headland, Alabama.

After moving to Dothan, Shirley was employed at Ansell Incorporated for several years, she was also employed by Dr. Allan & Deborah Prince, M.D. until her retirement. Shirley loved attending church, participating in many church related activities and listening to gospel music. Her favorite pass time was fishing. Through out her life she taught her grandchildren, nephews, and nieces how to fish. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and being “Big Mama.”

In her younger life Shirley met and married Mr. L.C. Dull Sr. This union brought forward two children: L.C Jr. and Shirley Dull.  After becoming a widow, Shirley later married Mr. M.C. McCree, this union brought forth four children: Brenda, Sue, Debra, and Joe.

She is preceded in death by both parents, sisters; Betty Jean Higgins, Eva Lou Helms and Ruby Joyce Helms, brothers; Robert Lee Helms, Willie James Helms, Jasper Helms, Gregory Helms, Martin Earl Helms, Robert Earl Helms and Hollis Earl Helms, grandchildren; Justin Lewis, Ke′Vocion Williams and Jaylen King, great grandchild; Trustin Williams.

Shirley leaves to cherish her precious memories six children:  L.C. Dull (Laura), Apostle Shirley D. Strozier, Brenda Reeves, Sue Kelley (Kenneth), Debra Thornton and Joe D. McCree all of Dothan, Alabama. Sixteen grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Brothers; John Henry Helms (Barbara), Billy Helms of Dothan, Alabama, Jimmy Jones (Alisa) of Blackwood, New Jersey, Sisters; Fannie Mae Thomas, Rose Mary Payge, Annie Frison (Apostle Bobby Frison), Millie Minniefield, Linda Williams Jones all of Dothan, Alabama, Janice Palmer of Atlanta, Georgia and Martha Lawson of Anniston, Alabama, as well of a host of nieces, nephews, and  cousin.
