Stephanie Smith McCray

Stephanie Marcia Smith was born May 7, 1987 in Mobile, AL. She was the youngest child of Marcellus Leonard and Sundra Shealey Smith and grew up in Birmingham, AL. She was baptized, confirmed, and raised in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church where she served as an acolyte and participated in various church activities.

Stephanie attended Hoover City Schools and graduated from Spain Park High School (SPHS) in 2005. Stephanie’s childhood activities included dance, piano, and the SPHS Show Choir and Color Guard. She attended classes at the University of North Alabama and Jacksonville State University.

Stephanie was an outgoing person with an effervescent personality. Always willing to help, always available; thus, she worked in many areas that allowed her to serve others. In 2011, she received a Capture Recognition Award while working as a dispatcher at the Dothan Police Department. As an adult, she assisted with dance teams and attended multiple churches.

Her pride and joy were her sons, Marcus (17) and Alex (14). She was known for being the loudest sideline cheerleader mom at their football and basketball games. She loved her boys immensely!

Mourning Stephanie’s loss are two loving boys, Marcus Jaden Smith and Alexander Ethan Mayes, Daleville, AL. Parents, Marcellus and Sundra Smith, Birmingham, AL. Three bonus daughters and a husband, Aaliyah, Andrea, Destiny, and Ricky McCray, all from Ozark, AL. Grandmother, Eddie G.
