William Micheal Snell, Sr., affectionately known as Bill, passed away on July 25, 2023, at the age of 68, at his home in Seaford, Delaware. His battle with several medical issues showed his courage in facing life's challenges with a smile. Despite his pain, he was a protector and stayed strong until the end.
Bill was a master mechanic and as the saying goes, he could fix anything from steamboats to billy goats. He maintained a commercial driver's license throughout his life and has driven trucks. He was employed by the following companies: Maryland Truck Parts, Chambers Motors, and Seaford Disposal. He would make fast friends wherever he lived or worked and had a genuine ingenuity about mechanics design and repair. He had a passion for drag racing and enjoyed going to local drag strips, occasionally attending a national drag racing event.
In the heyday of CB radios, he had every car equipped with one and a base station at home. His CB handle was “Nighthawk”. He would spend many hours chatting with fellow CB users and truck drivers across the country. In his later years, he was a big NASCAR fan; Dale Earnhardt, Sr. was his favorite driver. He loved that old number 03.
When he was not working, Bill would grab a pole and find a fishing spot. He passionately named one place, drop a line and catch a fish. He also enjoyed taking his children to amusement parks and going on long road trips, mostly to Alabama.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Lola and Ralph Snell; sisters, Maxine Farmer, Pamela Fenn, Evangeline Snell, Francine Duncan, and Angeline Snell; and brothers, Henry Fenn, Harry Fenn, and Williams Snell, all of Dothan, Alabama.
Bill is survived by his former spouse, Denise Snell; their children, Jacqueline Wildman (Gerard), Jason Norris, William Snell, Jr., Bruce Snell, Dean Snell, and Gene Snell, (Chelsea); eight wonderful grandchildren, Jason Norris, Jr., Jazmine Snell, Sasha Norris, Olivia Snell, Allissa Norris, Gene Snell, Jr., Rhiannon Snell, and Victoria Wildman; three great-grandchildren, Riley Norris, Jaizod Williams, Jr., and Halo Norris; four siblings, Irmatine Bealyer (Hansler), Ronald Snell, Robert Snell, and Richard Snell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
