Willie Mae Knight Carthen’s Life Journey
(Birth)
On September 1, 1925 in Greenfront, Alabama, the late Johnny Walker Sr, and Carrie Carroll Walker were blessed with a baby girl. They named her Willie Mae.
(Love)
She was affectionately known as Mae. She is the mother of four sons and six daughters.
(Life)
Mae worked at Spann School, Holiday Inn, she later retired from the Southeast Alabama Medical Center, she also worked for the Miles family. She was a dedicated member of her church, where she dedicated most of her time working passionately with the nursing guild and singing in the choir.
(Home Going)
On December 7, 2019, at 9:15 pm, Jesus came and escorted Mae to her heavenly home. Her work on earth was done. She touched many lives. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and one of her favorite pass times was bowling with her bowling league, watching wrestling with her grandchildren, her life was full of joy as she attended any gospel singings.

Mae leaves to celebrate her life: Her children, Annie Lois Anglin, Landover Hills, MD; Betty Gregkin, Vauxhall, NJ; Geraldine Knight (Leon), Irvington, NJ; Harvey Knight (Sara Nell), Ashford, AL; Gennette Blackmon (Tommy) Grimes, AL; Billy Knight (Elaine), Midland City, AL; Jimmy Knight (Lisa), Dothan, AL; Lorane Knight, Atlanta, GA; Ellen Knight, Montgomery, AL; She leaves 24 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grand and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friends.
She was preceded in glory by her parents Johnny and Carrie Walker, her loving husband Lester Bob Carthen and five siblings: Johnny Walker Jr., Theo Walker, Alice Hammonds, Alberta McClure, and Minnie Mae Kilgore. Her son Terry Knight (Turk), and a great grandson Torrance Latrell Thomas.
