With a heart full of joy and remembrance we celebrate the life of Adelle Smith, a beacon of love and strength who graced this world with her presence from March 17, 1961, until her peaceful departure on October 30, 2024. Born in Dothan Alabama, Adelle’s journey began as the cherish daughter of the late Mr. Clarence and Mrs. Lillie Smith, and blossomed into life rich with love, faith, and enduring family bonds.

Adelle’s early acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Savior was a testament to her unwavering faith. Adelle’s love extended beyond her immediate family to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom was touched by her compassionate spirit and radiant energy. She was a beloved presence in their lives and her guidance and love will continue to resonate within their lives.

A woman of many interests, Adelle found joy in the pages of mystery books, unraveling the twists and turns of each story with keen interest. Adelle final months were spent in Birmingham, Alabama, where she moved to live with her sister. Even as she faced her own challenges, her resilience and positive outlook remain unshaken. She continued to live with grace and gratitude, cherishing every moment with her loved ones.

In a life marked by kindness and generosity, Adelle was a loving and strong woman, though she never had children of her own, she embraced the role of a mother to all of her nieces and nephews with open arms and an open heart. She guided them through life’s challenges, offering advice and helping make good choices. Adelle was preceded in death by her parents and a loving sister Rebecca Ransom. Her love knew no bounds and she was a cherished sister, leaving behind a legacy of love and grace in her sisters: Angela Merritt (Kenneth Truitt) of Birmingham, AL, Vanessa (Michael) Dawkins of Dothan, AL; Evelyne Brunson Clark of Dothan, AL; Tina Jones of Midland City, AL; and Jackie Brunson (James Smith) of Dothan, AL; her brothers, Norris Smith (Elaine) of Atlanta GA, Benjamin Smith (Shirley) of Dothan, AL., Fredrick Brunson of Dothan, AL., will forever remember Adelle’s warmth and unwavering support.
